Detail

Barceló Rum Factory and Altos de Chavón Visit The programme includes a visit to the Barceló rum factory, where you will discover the exciting world of rum making. We will learn about the history and importance of sugar cane, the raw material for premium rum. During the factory visit we will gain insight into the traditional distillation process and experience how Barceló's famous rum is made. At the end of the programme, you will also have the opportunity to taste different rums, giving you the chance to discover a rich palette of flavours and aromas. The Barceló rum factory is located in the Dominican Republic and has been a renowned player in the rum industry since 1929. The factory is renowned for its use of quality ingredients such as carefully selected sugar cane and traditional distillation methods. The diversity of the maturation process results in a variety of flavours and aromas, so a visit to the distillery allows guests to experience the art of rum production first-hand. Altos de Chavón - City of Artists Altos de Chavón, near La Romana in the Dominican Republic, is modelled on a 16th century colonial town. This art centre not only provides an inspiring environment for local artists, but has also been the setting for several Hollywood films such as \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Jurassic Park\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" and \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Rambo 2\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\". Altos de Chavón is a cultural centre for painters, sculptors and fashion designers. The town's architectural designs were created by Dominican Jose Antonio Caro and Italian Roberto Coppa, and local craftsmen brought their ideas to life. The city is home to the famous Altos de Chavón Design School, as well as an archaeological museum and a 5,000-seat amphitheatre that has hosted many famous performers, including Frank Sinatra, Sting and Andrea Bocelli. A visit to the amphitheatre and museum will give you an insight into the local culture and history, while a stroll through the cobbled streets will reveal unique works by local artists. This is the experience of a lifetime for the whole family!
