Would you swim in a real, life-like aquarium among tropical fish and eagle rays? You can dive and snorkel!
Detail
- Incredibly popular with divers and snorkelling enthusiasts alike, the underwater life around the island is abundant, but the white sandy beaches with palm trees overhanging them even attract large cruise ships for a short stopover in winter.
- The Catalina Island dive tour starts in the morning. Depending on the distance from your hotel, we will pick you up between 07:15 and 08:30. Return in the afternoon, between 17:00 and 18:00.
- After about 1 hour drive from Punta Cana, we arrive in Bayahi and after a beachside coffee, we take a motorboat/catamaran to Catalina Island.
- Here, too, the ever-cheerful crew create a fantastic atmosphere during the cruise.
- For beach lovers, the beaches of Catalina are a Caribbean paradise.
- The calm turquoise water is as clear as the summer sky and the shade of the many palm trees is a pleasant place to cool off. It is one of the best beaches in the Dominican Republic.
- There are pleasant bars and volleyball courts on the beach if you get tired of sunbathing.
- Diving in Catalina Island, Dominican Republic, is the perfect choice. On the west side of the island lies "The Aquarium". True to its name, here too the diver feels as if he is swimming in a real life aquarium, with an abundance of tropical fish, often accompanied by curious eagle rays swimming beneath him, woken from their beds of sand.
- For pirate enthusiasts, a short distance from the island lies the 1700s shipwreck of the merchant ship Quedagh, which was famously captured by Captain William Kidd. Carrying a wealth of treasure, Kidd hijacked the ship and sailed to the Caribbean, but was eventually captured and taken back to England, where he was convicted of piracy. The site of the Quedagh was unexplored for centuries before being found in 2007 and is now known as the 'Living Museum'.
